Excuse me if you already saw this post in the NYU specific forum
Hi, this is my first real post on college confidential so I’m not completely accustomed to this. Anyways, I will be attending UCLA this fall of 2015 with an intended major in “computer science and engineering.” After some realizations about myself and what I want to do in my future, I have discovered that I would rather be focused on business, specifically finance. I aim to transfer to NYU Stern for my sophomore year. My main question is which would give me the better chance of getting into Stern: sticking with my major of computer science/engineering and somehow taking an extra financial accounting and statistics course that meets the transfer recommended courses? Or instead change my major to business econ at UCLA then take the necessary courses to transfer? Regardless of which I choose, I will be taking high level calculus courses at UCLA. I am unsure as to whether a computer science student would be more appealing to Stern than a business econ student. Regarding high school, I’ve had a 4.5 GPA, all 5’s on my 6 AP’s taken, 32 ACT, 800 Math 2, 730 Physics, and competitive soccer my whole life (I would also love to play for NYU’s soccer team). I have other extra curriculars that I won’t get into now haha. I have also been working at an accounting firm this past summer Monday through Thursday, and was an instructional aid for trig at my high school. If it helps, I was enrolled in a Stevens Institute of Technology summer program for business (right across the Hudson river from NYU). Would I have a good shot of transferring into Stern? And would it benefit to stay in comp sci/eng or change to business/econ? Thank you
