Transfer from UGS to Cockrell Questions

Hi all,

I was wondering what exactly UT looks at if you get into UGS freshman year 1st semester and you want to transfer into Cockrell 2nd semester. I’ve heard that a lot of people are able to do this by taking a few more math/physics/comp sci courses, so I think it’s possible. Will they weigh high school highly (rank, gpa, ec’s etc) or will they look more at the college gpa when transferring to Cockrell? Also, is it true that with a decent gpa and taking good science courses that you don’t fall behind, you can expect to transfer into Cockrell?

Cockrell accepts internal transfer student only in the fall semester, not in spring or summer. Go to http://www.engr.utexas.edu/undergraduate/admissions/changeofmajor and click on “All Other UT Austin Students”.
