Recs: hopefully prof from yale or nyu

I am wondering what schools you think i should apply to with my stats. I really don't know what my chances are.

I have been researching these:

yale, columbia, ucla, usc, nyu

Also, do you think it wise to go to ccc or santa clara university. I want to stand out from other applicants, and I want to go to these schools cause they have good programs in theatre/psych. I don't know whether they'll want me, but i believe I have something to offer.

Please let me know what you think of my chances, and what steps I should take to ensure a successful transfer to one of these schools or another school you recommend.

Thanks to all for the help!

i just realized this is a bit lengthy. sorry, thanks for the help :D

.........?

I'd go to Santa Clara. It's a good school, so good grades would mean something. I think you'd also have a better time at Santa Clara than a community college. More community, more college atmosphere. Remember, even though you want to transfer, you don't want to throw away your freshman year!

oh, and apply to brown because it's the greatest :)

Keep in mind they are no longer need blind for transfers!

yeah but you should still apply :) I got in with financial need. It happens.

so is brown a possible transfer? I mean are my stats worth their consideration? i haven't heard much about their arts programs, are they good? I know they only accept like 4% or something.

does anyone have any other suggested schools to apply to?

Anticipating a 3.8-4.0 is a lot easier than actually achieving a 3.8-4.0. College is A LOT more difficult than High School, so once you do pull that high gpa, or whatever your GPA will end up being, we will have a much easier time providing a list of schools for you.

^^thanks Cavs, i am going to try my hardest to achieve that. it's so hard to not worry about it.

One piece of advice: have about 30 credits OFFICIALLY completed before applying to transfer. However, don't load them all on in the first semester. I know a lot of freshmen try to pack in 5-6 or even more classes with their jobs and they get slammed and end up with poor grades. Take a manageable amount, add one more the next semester and then take a few during summer and transfer during spring of the next year (so total you would have 3 semesters at whatever college you attend). That's what I've done, and I went from a B- GPA in high school with POOR SAT scores to a 3.9, Honors College, Dean's List with Distinguished Honors and a competitive college record for transferring to NYU Spring '08.

Best of luck to you.

^thank you, did you go to a cc or another univ

I am currently at a local university.
