I have completed my application for UT’s CNS Computer Science program. (Second choice being Electrical Engineering), and I am wondering what my chances would be. My stats are as follows:
Age:21
GPA: 3.277
Transferable Credits: 65
3 Letters of Reccomendation: Tarrant County College Southeast Campus President, My boss (President and CEO of a web development company that is internationally performing well in its niche), and Coordinator of Student Activities at Tarrant County College Southeast Campus
Essays: Turned in A and E. Quality essays
Work History: Web Developer for previously mentioned company
More EC’s:
Volunteer at a hospice (2012)
Volunteer at a city park (2013)
Campus Ambassador at Tarrant County College Southeast Campus (President’s personal group of outstanding students)
Peer Leader and a student leadership academy alumni
Many school volunteer hours
I see two sides to this coin. On one end, I have real world experience developing Computer Science related solutions for clients, strong involvement in school EC’s, and have very praising letters of recommendation from the school camp, work camp, and community camp. On the other end, my GPA is able to be scoffed at, and I hear the CNS is over-saturated right now with CS majors.
My second choice is UTD’s Software Engineering program which I have automatic admission to, but UT has been my dream from the start.
Thoughts?
