Does anyone have any insights on transferring junior year? Son turned down acceptance freshman year and went to a private school. Now wanting to be at UNC in Kenan Flager, but it looks as if he won't be able to apply to undergrad business school unless he spends a semester in A&S. He's one semester ahead at this point, but looks like he will have to wait until spring Jr. Yr. to be in Kenan Flager. Any insights?

Many transfer students and those who are not admitted for the fall apply again and start in the spring. It just means that he will have more business classes in his schedule than those who start in the fall. It also means that he will need to have the vast majority of his graduation requirements fulfilled by the end of the fall semester because there will not be a lot of flexibility when starting in the spring. But I know it’s done and isn’t too uncommon; a lot of students transfer here to apply to KF.

thanks. he was told that UNC does not accept any students except in the fall. I hope he did not misunderstand that!

UNC doesn’t accept transfer students in the spring. I apologize, I meant for KF, not UNC as a whole. He would start in the fall at UNC and apply to KF early during the semester, and if he is accepted he would start his major in KF in the spring.
