I was wait listed in March at Cornell (which was and is my #1 choice) . . . I got an email from Cornell today (which could very well be a polite way of saying you are rejected!!) which reads:

"The Admissions Committee is extending to you a Transfer Option to 'collegename' for the Fall 2010 semester in the 'programname' program. The Transfer Option is awarded to a select number of students who apply to 'collegename' for Freshman Admission, who have demonstrated a sincere interest in the College's mission. Candidates who receive a Transfer Option, are provided with transfer planning, advising, and special priority in the application review and selection process. The Transfer Option is a final decision and is not an acceptance; candidates are required to meet a set of firm requirements for Fall 2010 transfer admission to be awarded.
... and links and stuff. . . "

I did not even know they offered transfer option to the waitlisted.

How is a transfer option different from the so called Guaranteed Transfer option? What is the difference between the two?

It will be really really cool to be at Cornell in the Fall of 2010 if all I have to do it meet their GPA and other requirements. But I read somewhere the chances to get a transfer in one in ten or so and I am not sure I am ready to go through the pain again if my chances are that low.

Ill appreciate thoughts and comments.

I will call Cornell next week but your posts will ease my anxiety.
