Now today, after spending like an hour nervous as hell and then eventually falling sleep cuz of the website failure, I know that I got waitlisted by Cornell.

Considering how my brother got a guaranteed transfer option a few years back when he applied to Cornell, I was wondering is it better to get waitlisted or get the guaranteed transfer option?

GT means u are accepted for Sophomore year. Waitlist means you will wait to c if u can get in Freshman year. GT people automatically get in Sophomore year if they keep pretty good freshman grades at another college and then they can go to Cornell (I am a GT). Waitlist people are...well...waitlisted. I'm sure u all know how that works. GL everyone! (ps only 3 colleges use GT...ILR, Hotel, and HE thanks post below me) (pps. You would know if u were a GT cuz it would tell u. I did hear b4 that some waitlistees can get offered GTs in the end. Not sure if that's true or not)

What's the difference between waitlist and GT, in terms of the applicant? Like why would Cornell waitlist someone, or give them GT opportunity instead?

Def not ALL. Maybe CAS but r u sure CALS? I thought only 3 or 4 did...I donno w/e.

I think one of the reasons Cornell gave me a GT was so that I could evolve more at another college and then bring my immense passion to Cornell the next year. I evolved throughout my highschool career to get better and better and better grades. My GPA wasn't the BEST so I think they just wanted me to evolve a little more but recognized my passion for ILR so now they want me to go Sophomore year. That's how I see it. And it does seem to have worked cuz I have a 3.8 gpa at this college so I feel more prepared now.

well it all depends on what happens at the end of the day, if you get in off the waitlist obviously it's better than gt, but if you don't they obviously it's not. I would rather have a GT as opposed to a waitlist (as I did have) because it's a sure thing (as long as you don't get jacked up)

You do not have to reapply. (ya, u can smile now cuz that's amazing). If you get the grades you are in, period. You just have to decide whether u r going or not. Easy as pie.

well i got GT to AEM major in CALS and got my letter today and it says there is a "short application" which should arrive in december and that there is no app fee.

Closest thing u get to apps r forms pretty much (at least for ILR). Like fill out ur grades, have ur profs sign em, put in any activities u ended up doing, blah blah simple simple.
