Transfer out of state?

Hi!

So this semester I'm going to apply for transfer in the fall 14. Until recently, my plan has always been to transfer to one of the UC schools but from out of nowhere I have started to think about transferring out-of-state. I'm thinking about schools such as Cornell, Dartmouth (yeah I know these ones are pretty much impossible but whatevs), NYU etc... just some schools across the country! (I'm a SMC-student, international one I might add). So I have always used assist to see what I need to do but with these schools I can't. I tried to find out on these schools websites what I need to do and what courses I need to take but maybe I am blind but I really don't find specific information about what to do. Does anyone know if there are specific prereqs for these schools or if they just look at everything and then decide? I'm a communication/media/journalism major. Can anyone please help? Is it impossible to get into these schools? My GPA will be 3.93 when I apply I hope (A in all courses except for one annoying B). Do I need a 4.0 GPA for Cornell and Dartmouth?

Each college website varies, but I knew that Cornell might have different requirements because you apply to a specific college within the university:

Cornell > Admissions > UG admissions > Transfer Students > Transfer Requirements Chart:

NYU may be the same because they also have specific colleges you apply to, D may not because you apply to the general college.
