I will be a sophomore this fall at a large top ~50 public univ. and I'd like to apply for transfer admission to a few schools.
hs gpa: 3.5
act: 28
major: finance/econ
college gpa: 3.62 (can reasonably expect to remain ~3.6-3.7 range)
total credits: completed 32 hrs. last year excluding AP credit, will complete 32 hrs. next year.
I am involved in several student organizations and have had 2 internships thus far.
I'm also in my current school's honors program.

Would my application be competitive at any of the following?
-UVA
-NYU Stern
-UNC
-Emory
-Vanderbilt
-Cornell
-UC Berkeley (not sure of UC transfer reqs..)

UCs have students transfer after (i think) 60 or 64 transferable credits, so you wouldn’t be able to successfully attempt unless you finished your sophomore year…i’d look into that more though if you’re interested in it. I’m only (kind of) familiar with UNC and NYU on that list. I know two people to tried to transfer to UNC-CH after their freshmen year at a top 50 uni; one had a 3.4 gpa and she got waitlisted (and then ultimately rejected), while the other had a 3.8 gpa and got in. I’m not very sure what type of students they were in high school, but it shouldn’t be too far off from your stat. I’d check UNC website to make sure you have the classes they require you to take before you transfer.

As for NYU, Stern is super competitive. I also know a guy in the business school from my previous university who always talked about transferring there, and he did apply but didn’t get in. I think he had a 3.9 gpa…he’s a good student. However, I do know that NYU’s CAS (College of Arts and Sciences) is “easier” to get into, in case you wanted to know.

Sorry I couldn’t be more of a help. I’m kind of going off the top of my head with all of my former transfer friends at my previous university! Good Luck.
