I want to transfer from a CCC to UCLA as a physiology major.. however while at a community college I withdrawn from 2 different courses... then took each course the following semester and passed it.. (they were both science classes)

When reading the UCLA's website I grow rather concern, it reads:

"To enter the Physiological Science major, students must complete Life Science 1, 2; Chemistry 14A and 14B, 14C or 20A and 20B, 30A; Math 3A, 3B, and 3C, or 31A, 31B, and 32A; and Physics 6A or 1A with a GPA of 2.5 or better before Fall of their third year. For all preparation courses, students must complete each course with a grade of C or better. Repetition of more than one preparation course will result in dismissal from the major or denial of admission to the major."

Does withdrawing from a course and taking it again count the same as repeating a course?

I have a 3.72 GPA (3.76 if this semester continues going my way) what are my chances?

Possibly. Did you withdraw from your classes before or after the withdraw deadline? If it was before then the class will not count and will not be seen.

They might be referring to students who stuck out with the class the whole semester, got a bad grade, then retook it.

To be sure though, call and ask admissions or email them your question

To answer your first question, I dropped the classes about half the semester into them. So they both definitely show up on the transcript as “W” or on the UC Application “Wi”… :/

Ya, if the question cant be answered on here i’ll definitely have to give them a call…

At my school it did not work like that. I retook the classes but the previous classes still fully remain on my transcript with a W. Ie: Spring 2010: Chem – W , Fall 2010: Chem – A

^^@Ferrari4XD Nothing is removed from your transcript – ever! The only thing that is altered is your GPA. Your original ‘W’ will still be there. Same if you failed any class and you retook it and earned a higher grade, your failed grade will still be there but it won’t effect your GPA

Just got off the phone with a UCLA admission rep. Looks like repeating a class and getting a (W) and then retaking the class are two different things.

Repetition of a course requires the student to fully complete the class with an unsatisfactory grade ie: D,F

Looks like I can keep my fingers crossed on still getting accepted.
