Transfer recomendations

Hey everyone,

I am an undergraduate Sophomore student who is interested in transferring to a different university for the Fall of 2018 semester. I am interested in studying Political Science or Public Policy at the new university. I will also be switching my major ahead of next semester.

Here is my current list of schools I am considering

UAlbany, SUNY Plattsburgh, SUNY Oneonta, UMass Amherst, UMass Lowell, Florida State University, University of Minnesota

I am wondering if anyone had better ideas/opinions on the listed schools. I am looking for something affordable (out of state around $20k a year), but also something with a very respected program. I also am looking for something where I can fit in socially. I can answer any questions that would give people a better idea to offer suggestions.

I don’t think any of those would have a net cost of 20k per year. Transfers don’t get much aid or merit.
What aid do you get at your current school?
Why not stay at current school if affordable

I should’ve been more clear, I was just talking about the tuition costs.

Also, I don’t get much aid at my current school, but the reason why I would like to leave is due to some personal reasons that are making me unhappy with the current environment. My school is 20 minutes away from home, and I am just very unhappy with my current situation. I really want to get away from my area and experience new people and ideas. I also feel like I can get a better education elsewhere for a similar price (particularly looking to take advantage of a more prestigious alumni network).

I would ditch Florida State and apply to Florida International University. First of all, it’s way more affordable. Second of all, their business programs are top notch and great companies plus federal agencies are always actively recruiting from there. Their poli sci program is very good, I’ve met very successful graduates from that program. Socially, it’s amazing without having a terrible reputation as a party school.
