Transfer Recommendations from Summer Professors?

I am currently enrolled in a summer course at NYU, and hope to apply as a transfer student this fall for the spring semester. I am wondering if it might make sense (or totally would be a bad idea) for me to ask my professor for the class (who is a Ph.D candidate) for a recommendation. We have about two weeks left, and I plan to ask to meet with her to ask some questions about the material soon, and since it is a small class, she does know my name.

I am curious whether or not this would be looked upon highly or looked down upon by the adcoms at NYU. I have a person who wrote my recommendation for when I tried to transfer last semester from my home institution, and I feel like I’ve asked that professor for too many things already, so I don’t know if I should ask her again. Otherwise, I would have to form a really close relationship with a professor at the beginning of the fall semester and hope that it works out…because I don’t have anyone else I think I could ask. Other than that, I was thinking about asking my college counselor from high school to write for me, since he knew me very well and really does want the best for me and all his students.

I hope this wasn’t too long or confusing. I am just really hoping to get out of my current school and clearly have a lot of anxiety about the process!!

I mean I guess what I am really asking is what would the best course of action be for getting a recommendation/choosing someone who will hopefully write me a good rec? I need just one for NYU, but could submit 2 if I wanted to.

Yes, it is OK to get a recommendation from this person.

@happymomof1 thanks for your answer!
