Transfer Rutgers

I’m currently a senior in high school. I failed Freshman year (1.9gpa)…
sophomore year gpa 3.3
Junior year gpa 3.29
Currently aiming to get all A’s senior year.
I wanna Go to Rutgers New Brunswick but I’m not sure if I’ll get in. SAT 1360/1600
I know it’s the school for me. It’s an hour from home not too far not too close. Two of my best friends from high school are already attending.
If I get a 3.7 senior year
And go to community college and apply in feb to transfer my sophomore year and get a 3.6ish in CC what are my chances ??
Worked for 2 years.
Failing gpa in freshman year due to depression, immaturity, family problems (a nasty divorce) and being switched between homes sometimes no where to go.
I plan to quit my job this year to focus on school.
Total 4 honors classes the rest CP.
I’m gonna apply this year hopefully some sort of miracle happens. I’m desperate to leave home.

For Rutgers NB.

Terrible GPA freshman year 2.0
Sophomore 3.3
Junior 3.3
Looking to get all A’s this year.
SAT I’m taking in October. PSAT 1340/1600
I’m aware I have A slim chance .
Thinking of going to CC for a year aiming for a 3.7 there.
Chance?

I would honestly just try applying if I were you. You have an upward trend. They will probably be one the fence about you, so make that essay excellent because they will likely read it in your case. Your SAT shows promise and may actually exceed or be within the average of the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS).
If you aren’t 100% sure about what you would like to study, then don’t go to Rutgers right off the bat. No shame in doing CC. You will have your core requirements for your specific Rutgers school out of the way and you will also have gotten used to college academics, even tho transfer shock is still a factor. Just try to apply now, but make sure you’re up to the challenge should you get in. Expos and other courses which all freshmen must take are notoriously difficult and if you’re pursuing science, there are weed-out courses like chemistry and organic chemistry to watch out for.
To answer your other question, typically having a 3.0+ in community college gives you a high chance of admission to Rutgers NB, so long as you have no D’s or F’s within your last 10 credits AND you don’t have a downward trend in your grades.

Thank you. And I prefer to go straight there or as little time in CC as possible. I’m sure i could keep up with the work. I’m desperate to get out of my house. I know I’m capable especially away from home. Many of my poor grades are due to a difficult home life. (In 9th grade my parents were going thru a divorce, kicked me out multiple times. Father was abusive and mother mentally abusive to this day.) what do you suggest writing the essay on?

Bump

'm also applying to transfer and I’m so nervous. I was originally at Umass Amherst, but I had to take a medical leave during my second semester so basically I have a bunch of W’s. My first semester GPA was a 3.2 and now I’m applying to Rutgers NB to go into SAS.

I will have a total of 23 credits. I’m also taking two classes at Bergen Community.

Do I have a chance?

The gpa for admitted transfer students is significantly lower than first time freshman. I would write a letter writing about why you have the W’s. Rutgers doesnt look at HS credits once tou have 24 college credits. Good luck and i think Fall is less competitve than Spring. Hopefully a miracle happens and i get in as a freshman
