Hi I'm currently a freshman at DePaul U. and I am still undecided as to what my major will be. I want to transfer to possibly NYU, BU, or McGill but I have a pretty low high school GPA and am hoping that my grades here at DePaul will help me get into at least one of these schools. Would it be wise for me to wait until sophomore year to apply for transfer or apply now? I would think that applying sophomore year would at least give me a chance to show more grades that display an upwards trend but on the other hand, if it doesn't make much of a difference, I wouldn't want to wait.
What should I do?

well there are a few things to consider. first of all, how unhappy are you at your current school? are you just looking to graduate from a better school, or are you unhappy? that can make all the difference.

first of all, keep in mind if you transfer as a sophmore, they will also consider your high school grades and SAT scores, which matter less and less as you get older.

third of all, if you're not unhappy at your current school and just want the "name" of a more selective school, you might want to wait, because college grades are very important when transferring.
