Transfer Student Athlete- Track

Well, guys, I've hit rock bottom; I'm asking people on CC for chances. Really, though, I could use some guidance. I'm a track runner who ran 1:55 for the 800 in his Senior Year. If you're not a runner, you probably don't know what that means, so this post is pretty irrelevant. Anyway, I go to a school without a track team. Depressing, I know. I'm a freshman looking to transfer ASAP-- I'm looking to contact coaches next week. Anyway, I'd like to transfer to a school with a track team (preferably a very good D3 school). You know, like Williams, Tufts, Bates, Amherst, etc. I was wondering whether a coach could help a transfer student in the Admissions process because my scores aren't quite up to par. If anyone has any insights or tips, please share them.

SATs are as follows
610- CR
710- Math
650- Writing

SAT 2
Math 2- 800
Chem-680
US History- 710

APs-
US- 4
Euro-5
Macro-5
Micro-5
Physics-4

Not sure about class rank-- about a 3.45 GPA

so… to make the question more specific: does being a student athlete wield any power in the transfer process?

First, I would check to see what the NCAA regs are about participating in your sport right after a transfer- check the NCAA student athlete site. Then email the coaches at your target schools- they can tell you quickly if they are interested and what your chances are. Much depends on how much they need another 800m runner, and how your times compare to those currently on their roster. Good luck.

Thanks Fauve. Are there any transfer students out there who have done a similar process?
