I am attending a community college as of right now and I am going to be transferring soon. My parents do not help me at all, so basically I am on my own. I'm going to be transferring to a CSU next year and I was just wondering if its even remotely possible for me to pay for college...

Have you filled out a FAFSA? If your parents income is low enough, then you might get grants to help pay.

Are you transferring to a CSU that you can commute to? If so, that might be best.

well my parents make a decent amount of money, but they are not willing to help me out at all. and yes I have filled out the fafsa and I am now receiving financial aid, but will grants be enough?

The only CSU I can commute to is Stanislaus, but it doesn’t have a good nursing program. The schools I am considering are SFSU, CSU Long Beach, CSU East Bay, and SJSU. I want to receive a good education, but I don’t think I can afford it. :(

What is your FAFSA EFC for next year? What are you getting in the way of financial aid at the community college right now, and by the time you finish at the community college, how much will you have taken out in loans? Do you know the cost of attendance at the CSU schools you’re considering? Will you be admitted directly into a nursing program, and will you finish in two more years? (Do the nursing programs have different costs than other CSU programs?) Have you finished pre-nursing requirements at the CC, and have you completed any intermediate certifications that could help with a part-time job?

??? What is your EFC? From that, we might be able to tell what you’d get based on the FA packages of other CSU kids that have posted here.
