Parents don't want to help

When I filled out my fasfa I got an efc. My parents are not supportive of me going to college and don't want to help me out with any money whatsoever. They want me to forget about school and get a job. Every program I apply for turns me down because of my family income. What should I do?

Work and save money. Then go to a community college and then transfer to a four year school. OR if you are a very high stats kiddo, perhaps there is a school where you will get a lot of merit aid…see thread by momfromtexas…maybe that will help you.

Chemistrylover, I have to ask - from your past posts it looks like you applied to and were accepted to UCSD, have submitted your SIR, paid your deposit and made travel arrangements to move into the dorms. How did you plan to pay for it?

^^^
Yikes! He did all that without the means to pay for the school? He’s even got a tentative class schedule.

Did the parents recently change their minds about paying?

Anyway, obviously he can’t go to UCSD. He’ll have to work and go to a CC. Very sad that this is all coming down to the last wire.

What is your EFC?
