dude how do you expect to go to harvard if you dont even know that they dont accept transfers, etc.
you should know how to do research

dude?....i do know how to do my research, dude. i didn't know they don't accept transfers, that's unusual because most schools do. i just assumed they did.

You're not going to Harvard. Just accept it and move on.

Like an atom bomb.

"is it just harder for girls to get into harvard?"
Lol, blaming it on gender is a pretty bad excuse. If you want to find out why you didn't make it into Harvard, I suggest you browse through the Harvard section of these forums. Take a look at the "Official Harvard 2012 Decisions Thread" and see what kind of stats the people who got excepted had. Take a good look, and you'll notice that a 3.8 GPA is mediocre compared to these kids. Also, Harvard is not accepting transfers for the next two years, so you may have too many credits before the opportunity to transfer arrives.

As for me, I'm kind of in the same boat as the girl who started this thread. I just started my junior year of high school and did poorly (laziness) my first two years of high school. I'm already well aware that I have a 0% chance of getting into Harvard right off the bat after high school.

I was hoping some people could clear up a couple of questions, however. Keep in mind that Harvard presumably will be accepting transfers by the time I would apply.

Do they look more at what you've done in college or high school?

Is the letter explaining why you want to attend the university as important as everyone makes it out to be (for transfers)?

If accepted, would I carry over the credits I earned in my previous college, or start as a freshman would with entry level courses (or can I choose)?

How much do they value extracurriculars in transfer students?

As you may have detected, I'm not particularly knowledgeable in the processes of higher education institutions.

can someone answer these questions please?

what about cornell, and U of Michigan? i am going to apply to cornell. what do you think i should do for an EC, i am currently just studying i have 6 classes. i am doing a cultural organization just attending meetings and being a member. do i need to take like a leadership role or something. is applying after one semester unrealistic? does it prove anything to the prospective college, i mean one semester of hard work? and i know i have to get a recommendation and wirte an essay. could someone maybe list everything i have to do like 1,2,3...that would really help me.

1.write an essay
2.professor recommendation

just go there in person and start going to classes, if you show that your committed they will see you are willing to do the work your chances improve. its all about how much you want it.
