I just applied as a transfer student to NEU and i want to know my chances. I have a 3.5 gpa with 47 credits at rhode island college and also a 5 year veteran of the army with a ton of experience. I play intermural rugby and im in the student veteran org. Want to go for criminal justice. Anyone have any comments or suggestions?

come on please?? :)

I don’t know anything about transfers. 3.5 is pretty good though and you have a decent background. It could go either way, depending on your recs and essays and scores (if you had to submit them). Sorry :/

If it helps, CJ typically is pretty easy to get into when compared to like engineering or bouve.

I do have scores but i have been out of high school about 7 years now so they dont apply. I have 3 recs, 2 from teachers and 1 from my company commander who i served with. Also i was a paratrooper in the Army and an Infantryman in the 82nd Airborne Division…hopefully stuff like that helps

It sure does sound cool! :)

I think “well rounded” wise you’d get in, so it would depend on if they think you can handle the academic work even though you skipped 7 years. And by the 3.5, it looks like you can, so I think you shouldn’t worry too much.

well, thanks for the comments. I was just worried I dont have enough extra curriculars and stuff, ive noticed poeple listing like 20 different things lol!

Make sure you mention to the school that you’ll use your Post-9/11 GI Bill if you are eligible. My daughter is using mine and it makes the school almost free. I’m sure the school likes people whose payments are guaranteed. Just stay on top of the process, because NEU’s financial aid office isn’t the best.

Oh, and fighting in IRQ or AFG beats working at the Buy More or starting a club for EC’s. Trust me, brother.

Hey thanks baronbvp, im eligible 100 percent of it. Ive used 2 years of it up though at my current school. I put in my essay i was a veteran and stuff but didnt directly say that i was using the post 9/11 GI Bill. Hopefully by reading it they realize that i will be using my benefits. Oh and good luck to your daughter!!

Contact Gregory Smith for veteran’s admission and advice. He’s a great guy.

Tell him the Navy guy from Germany with the long last name hooked a brother up. Good luck, soldier!

Good luck rossboss and thanks for your service.
By the way, my son (NEU student) tells me that NEU has a great rugby team. They’re going to nationals this year. I’m sure they’d love to have you join them, if you plan on playing while at NEU.

Hey thanks Jumpstart!!:)

bump…,…

Hey man, I’ve been frantically checking my “Applicant Status Checklist” to see if I’ve been accepted. I stumbled upon this website and noticed that you were in the 82nd. I just got out of the 505th (11B) a year or so ago… Have you been accepted yet?! I’m starting to really freak out because I still haven’t heard back from them.
