Hello All,

This is my first thread and I was just curious to see what others think my chances are of being accepted to Northeastern University as a transfer?

I am currently a first year student at Curry College hoping to transfer for my second year. I am majoring in Criminal Justice with a 3.76 GPA. I am also a member of the Pre-Law club and History Club (couldn't really get that involved on campus because of work).

I know that Northeastern is a popular school and that it is rising every year in national rankings so I am not really 100% positive in where I stand in terms of confidence that I will be accepted. So I don't know if it is hard/easy to transfer to Northeastern?

apply you will get in.

You think so? Thank you!

I’m also applying to Northeastern as a transfer student. I’m a freshman college student attending a CC. Your GPA exceeds their average transfer student GPA, which is a 3.3 according to the site. You should be fine given that you submit a decent/strong essay! Best of luck and hopefully you get accepted

Hello I am a current freshman at Suffolk University I have a 3.7 GPA for my first semester, and for second semester for my mid term grades I had Calculus with an “A”, Micro Economics with a “B”, Spanish with a “B” and English with an “A” I applied for International Business with a concentration in International Relations, what do you think my chances are for getting in ?

I’m actually trying to transfer to NEU from the University of West Florida for Computer Science (which has it’s own college there which is pfa for a school like Northeastern). I’ve got a pretty good essay and I’m pretty concise about why I want to go there and my future plans. My HS gpa wasn’t too hot (2.93), but I’ve got a 3.39 right now and I expect that to jump to 3.45, conservatively. I have a C+ in Uni Physics I and had to withdraw from Cal II but all my other sciences/math grades are excellent and I’m retaking Cal II this semester (B or B+). I also have a 1370 SAT (M+CR) and am sending in a mid-term report. I don’t have very significant ECs and I don’t have any employment history besides self-employment as a photographer, so I’m really relying on numbers and words to get my foot in the door (that too a private with holistic admissions). Do y’all think I stand a chance?

Hopefully I get in…have a 4.0 Fall semester and I submitted my midterms in lieu of HS grades and have a 4.0 on the midterms as well.

I got a letter from them yesterday after just getting everything in a few days earlier. Thought it was the fastest I’ve ever been rejected in my life…college or otherwise. Just a letter saying my application is now under review.

Same thing here. I thought it was a rejection letter or something. Gosh, haven’t they heard of a little thing called e-mail? lol

Hi! I will be there for freshman year. just got accepted like a week ago. ;)

Hey Guys,

I wanted to see if anyone would be able to tell my chances for transferring to Northeastern.

I currently go to Middlesex C.C. My first semester GPA from this previous fall was a 3.3. This current Spring semester 2012, I have a 3.5. I just sent out my midterm grades and my app was complete 3/30. After this current semester I will have completed 42 credits. During the NEU app process, the web portal said I was still missing H.S. transcripts and SAT scores. I sent them in anyway because I wasn’t completely sure about the 24 credit cut off point. Is it worth calling admissions and asking them to take away H.S. grades and SAT’s? Does it not hurt my chances to just leave them in the app? I’m in the Commonwealth Honors Program in M.A. I have a decent amount of community service. Played sports through out H.S. and have held the same job 4 consecutive years. Other than my fairly avg GPA, my professor that wrote my recommendation said I was one of his best students and said it was a strong rec. I applied though the comm-app, so I did not get to write about what I really like about NEU and why I would be a good fit. I used the “Why transfer” writing prompt. I felt I touched on a lot of benefits to transferring to a 4-year college.

I’m new to college confidential so forgive me for writing to much!

Got my acceptance into the Econ program! Woo hoo! :)
