I am a sociology major. I had plans to go on to graduate school to get my MSW after I receive my bachelors, but now I have become interested in teaching high school. I would preferably like to teach high school English. I know most sociology majors who go back to school to get a teaching certificate usually end up teaching the Social Studies classes such as Government, Economics, US History, Geography, Psychology, and of course Sociology.
Would it be harder for a sociology major to get a teaching position with a teaching certificate in English than it would be for social studies? Or does it even matter?
