Would Sociology qualify me for these jobs?

College Majors

I want a major that would qualify me for all 6 of these occupations:

  1. Paralegal
  2. Police Officer
  3. Social Worker
  4. Journalist
  5. High School Teacher
  6. Office Manager

Or is there another Major that would be better for me such as Political Science?

It’s rather interesting to see at http://www.census.gov/dataviz/visualizations/stem/stem-html/, in trying to answer this question, that Social services employment has more input from psychology majors than from social science majors. Of the broad fields they show, social science serves the legal, education and office support occupations more than any other educational field. (I don’t see more information in it pertaining to your question than that.)

The answer is yes to all of those except high school teacher. In order to be a high school teacher, you to need to major in something that is taught at the high school level - like math, English, history, biology, etc. - and get secondary school certification to teach. But sociology will enable you to do the rest.
