Transfer to UT Austin Engineering-Cockrell

Hey everyone!

I'm currently a freshman at the University of Texas at Arlington looking to transfer to UT for fall 2012 as a Petroleum engineering major I will end up applying for A&M as well; I don't really have a desire to go to A&M, but if I'm not admitted into UT, it'll be my back up plan. I just ended my first semester with a GPA of 3.714, which is lower than I was hoping for, but I'm aiming to get all A's next semester to raise my GPA to about a 3.87. If not, I'll most likely end up with one B and get around a 3.74. Could anyone please tell me what my chances are with either GPA for both UT and A&M?

In addition, I have many extra curriculars from both college and high school as well as some well written essays.

Thank you!

The average GPA of transfers into Cockrell is about a 3.85. Assuming you’ve completed all the Cockrell indicator courses, you should have a decent shot.

Is the average GPA for transfers really about a 3.85? I’ve heard from many people it’s from about a 3.7 to a 3.8. And I can’t find anything about the average GPA for transfers into Cockrell on the actual UT site.
