Transfer to UW for BSEE

Hello everyone,

I am currently attending Olympic College in Bremerton where I am working towards an Associate of Science in accordance with UW's undergraduate EE program requirements (AS, track 2, option 3). I will graduate next August with this degree, totaling roughly 90 credits. My cumulative GPA is 3.75 for my entire college history, and 3.61 for my cumulative degree GPA. I received my grade report for Fall 2012 in which I earned a 4.0 in all three of my classes.

My overall goal, of course, is to transfer to the UW to earn a BS in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics. Here is the list of courses I will have taken to earn my AS from OC:

MATH 151, 152, 163, 221, 222, 250, 264
PHYS 254, 255, 256
CHEM 141/151
ENGL 101, 235
ECON 202
CS 141
ORM 225
ENGR 204

I already have an Associate of Technical Arts in Electronics with which I graduated from Olympic College last June with a 3.94 cumulative degree GPA. Now that I am focusing solely on my AS, I am confident that my GPA will only improve.

I applied last year to the UW for general admission, but was denied. I presume this is because I was not on track to finish my AS and had not completed the requirements for the department of EE.

Currently, I am in the process of writing my personal statement. I had hoped to speak with an EE advisor before completing the application, but I am told that they prefer I attend an informational session.

I am 21 years old and I have coached youth lacrosse for the past four years.

So the question begs... what are my chances of getting into UW?

Thanks so much for your time in reading this.

Brandon

Your chances are pretty decent actually.

Yeah 100% chance you will get into the UW. And a pretty good chance of getting into the EE program.
