I was accepted as a transfer (going to start as as junior this fall) to UT-Austin as an undergraduate Political Science major. However, I had a talk that went on and off for weeks with my father, which concluded in me deciding that I should double-major in Government and Finance or Accounting, or even Finance or Accouting with a minor in Government.

I currently have three other universities I am considering and I'm not sure if I would like to attend UT-Austin if I am unable to change my major to Finance or Accounting -- Is there any way I could finalize whether I could do so before I go to orientation?

Before your orientation, no. You can always apply for an internal transfer into McCombs (where the finance and accounting majors are located) after your first year. Admission is based on UT GPA and is competitive. If you want it badly enough, and select courses wisely, you can make it.

If you want, I can recommend classes if your goal is to get into McCombs but know this: the credit hours cutoff for McCombs is 90 hours and as a Junior I think it may be too late to apply for McCombs and get in. I could be wrong however so double check…
