Transfer..

I am a current in state community college student planning to transfer to UF. I have already applied for next fall and am waiting to hear back. The problem is that I am trying to get into the college of engineering and need 6 out of the 8 on track courses before I can transfer. I plan on finishing my 6th course this summer.. So will they still accept me? Or will they tell me to wait and apply for the spring semester instead?
Also if I go to the school and try to talk to someone about my situation, could that increase my chances of getting in? If so who would I need to talk to haha?

As long as you’ll have all the requirements met prior to entering in fall, you’ll be fine. They just would probably give you a conditional acceptance stating you’re in as long as you complete said course.

No, talking to someone at the school isn’t going to increase your chances. Honestly as long as your gpa is decent you’ll probably get in.

Why do you say that? And my gpa is 3.52 but hopefully that will go up. Do you think that’s enough?

It all depends on what Engineering department you are applying to. Some are more competitive than others. What major are you applying to, what prereq will you finish in summer, and what prereqs will you have left to perhaps do at UF?

While I’m sure calling them may not hurt, I would certainly go to the department you are applying to and visit an advisor.

They don’t seem that picky for transfers I dunno, I transferred a year ago and I’ve observed many transfer threads, and people that applied as transfers from an in state CC that met the pre-reqs and had a decent gpa (somewhere around 3.5 but I’ve seen people with less get in, I had a 3.45) I have never seen get denied unless it was to a limited access program that only had a few spots. So just keep your gpa up and finish those pre-reqs and I think you have a pretty high chance of getting in. Which engineering major are you applying for?

I’m trying to do mechanical. And I will be finishing Calc III in the summer leaving me with differential equations and physics II.
And as for going to the school, can I just go anytime and walk in? Or do they do these type of things by appointment? I don’t want to seem rude by just showing up and end getting myself put on a “do not accept” list haha.
