My son has got admission in McGill management program. He is in a unique position to select his registration course
Total credits: 120 over 4 years.
He has 20 from Ib ( international bacclaurete )
So is in u0 now (4 year program)

He needs 24 for u1 (3year program)

He has 8 credits from summer school (Harvard Summer SChool)
He can use them and cross th 24 mark. Then he is u1

So what would be better if we are looking at a transfer.

U0 has electives with the math courses and 1 or 2 core courses.
U1 has math courses and all core courses

Harvard will reflect on mcgill transcript

What is advisable for a feasible transfer to a US business school from his current Bcom program

Doubtful. even if it does other schools will not be impressed with Harvard Summer school classes, it is open admission.

The McGill forum is not the vest place to get advice on how to transfer out.

Different US schools have different entrance and transfer requirements. Some even look at SAT/ACT scores in addition to university transcripts. It’s difficult to give specific advice without knowing which colleges/univs your son is going to apply to.

Overall, McGill is fairly well-known in the US so it should reflect well on the transcript and boost his chances somewhat.

If cost is an issue, I recommend starting as U1 because that will allow you to skip a whole year at McGill and enter a business school (most of which are very expensive) as a 3rd/4th year student.

On the other hand going in as U0 will allow your son more time to acclimatize to the university life and environment.

Ultimately, transferring will be hard (as always) regardless of which option your son chooses, especially if he is targeting top business schools in the States.
