So I recently decided to transfer to UCLA, but I really don't feel like I am ready for it. I feel really lost, like I am not exactly sure I am in the right major, and it is impossible to switch to any major that seems worth while because everything is so impacted at UCLA. School hasn't started, but I already moved in, but I really want to drop out and just go to CC for one more year to figure things out. I feel like I was pressured into transferring because everyone was like OMG you got into UCLA and CAL you have to go to one, and I feel like I just got sucked into the moment, without really realizing what direction I wanted to go in. I rushed through CC not really knowing the direction I want to go, and the last semester I was there I began to really enjoy math, so I felt like I could switch to a major that is more "job friendly". Am I wrong to feel this way? I really would like to just take the fall off, finish my math series in spring and reapply as a different major. I just feel like I am already pretty knee deep, so I have to stay.

First, congratulations!

Please go see the admissions counselor and/or the department advisors (the major you want and the major youre in) on Monday and tell them exactly what you posted. They are there to help.

If you go back to CC, you will see however that your goal is still to transfer.

Good luck!

thanks I went the other day because I wanted to switch to econ and they said no. It sucks I want to move on, but I don’t want to rush into something that could have such a huge impact on my future, and I know I could most likely get back in since I have a 4.0.

What major did you get into? What about Math/Econ?

I am a poli sci major. I am good at math, but I wouldn’t say I am “math major” material.

You said you “began to enjoy math” so Math/Econ came to mind. Have you taken any Calculus?

What did they say when you said you were considering going back to CC? You don’t have much time!

Yes I have, but I need calc 2 still. I didn’t tell them that. I know I don’t, I may just try to make it work.

Math courses after Calc series 31 and 32 aren’t more difficult IMO and experience. Continue to seek counseling and someone who can help you. Good luck!

You should stay! Anyone, or maybe it’s just me, would love to have the opportunity to go to UCLA. Be confident with your decision to transfer to UCLA because it was very mature. You chose your major for a reason. Try to minor in something that you enjoy if that is possible. Math sucks anyways! lol
