Transfer

Hello, I am currently a freshman in college and I hate the school I am at and I am considering transferring. I was curious if people could share their transfer experiences (why you transferred, adjusting to the new school, meeting people) especially second year transfers who transferred to Virginia Tech. I have heard bad stories about transferring and I am wondering if it would be worth it. Thank you!

I’m not a transfer student (not yet at least!) but I can share some of my thoughts with you. I am a freshman in college right now and I am also thinking of transferring from a school in Providence, RI to a school in Boston, MA next year. After speaking to some students who have transferred I’ve heard mixed reviews. There will always be those miracle people who transfer to a new school filled with rainbows and happiness, but what I’ve learned is that transferring can be extremely hard socially. Many people make their friends during freshman year, but some schools have some really great support systems for transfers so it can be easier. The only thing I can say is to keep your options open. Join everything that you can at your current school not only to make things easier for yourself when it comes time to apply to a school but also because it could help you make some friends at your current school. Good luck transferring!
