I’m currently studying hotel and restaurant management at a community college to get my associates degree, after I’m finished completing the program I’m thinking about moving to england to study for my bachelors degree. I’m planning on studying tourism. Is it possible to transfer to a university in the UK without having to start from first year student?
(I’m actually a British citizen living in the US)
Pretty unusual, but not completely impossible - depending on the exact course & uni. It will take some legwork, but look at the tourism curriculums and see which ones have required courses that match up to what you have taken, then contact the course directly. They probably won’t make any guarantees or do a full credit review until after you have accepted a place- it’s a lot of admin work for them- so be prepared not to get an ironclad promise up front. Fwiw, most tourism courses in England are 3 years, so even if you started as a first year you would only be in uni 1 year longer than in the US.
Be aware that if you’ve been living abroad you will probably have to pay higher international fees.
