I'm currently a sophomore at a top 30 undergraduate b-school. I have a 3.9 GPA and participate in various extracurricular activities. Such as:
1. Resident Assistant (RA, a position which shows leadership)
2. Work in library
3. In the Band
4. Student Government
I'm going to apply to transfer to Cornell, Georgetown, Columbia, and Yale because I really don't like my school as much as I would have hoped. My high school info is good too. Just assume that it isn't a very influential factor, as I'm applying after my sophomore year. From what I hear high school stuff doesn't really matter at all after 2 years of college under your belt. Either way I did well enough on my SAT s and GPA in high school to gain admittance to a top 30 undergrad b school. What are my chances with a 3.9, these extra activities, and a good essay? And what are some top 20 schools that you guys would say I have a shot at. Thanks

for yale, it will still matter. they tend to accept applicants who were also strong candidates as incoming freshmen.

a “good” essay is probably not what you should aim for. make it a great essay and you’ll be competitive. if you’re desperate to leave, i’d also add some schools as safeties cause your list is really top-heavy right now
