Transferable credits?

I’ve talked to a teacher about paying for a community college. She told me I need to watch out when choosing a community college because the credits may not be accepted or transferable to a larger school. She said I could be wasting my money and that I may have to pay to take the classes again if the larger school won’t accept my credits.

Is this true? How do I know if my credits will be transferable?
I haven’t decided on which school I want to go to after community college.

What she said could apply to any college, but actually may be less likely to apply to a community college since their curricula may be structured much that of the first two years of your state’s four-year universities.

Alright! I just don’t live in a state yet. What if I go to a college in a state that I only want to go to for a two year college?
Like I said, I’m undecided as to where I want to go after 2 year school.

The principle is the same. The basic “form” of a community college will resemble many four-year colleges nationwide.
