I am transferring from a community college and right now I am having difficulty deciding on a major. I want to transfer to UCB for premed, but I'm not sure what major would put in the best position. I'm hoping to become a general surgeon if that helps. I'm not sure which major to declare as far as biological sciences go. Thanks for the help!

MCB (micro-cellular biology) is really popular these days, though it is probably also impacted as a result.

I’m on assist.org, but I don’t see the major on here.

I have no help for you, but great name! GO NINERS!

Name sucks. Niners are 0-4

Best 0-4 team in NFL history

Not trying to put you down or anything, but i got shouted at an enormous amount when i brought up the topic of getting accepted into med school after attending a community college. If you check the premed section, you’ll see that everyone says that they don’t accept community college courses because they are barely harder than some competitive high schools AP courses. Just look into that while choosing your major. I was thinking of going to a CC but this changed my mind.

Not all med schools frown upon CC credits. Most admissions counselors of the med schools I am interested in told me that it doesn’t matter if you come do the transfer route as long as a you have a strong MCAT score and you’ve shown you can handle upper-division science classes in a 4-year well.

first of all, MCB in Berkeley is like full of pre-meds = fierce COMPETITION.
Don’t do pre-med at Berkeley, it’s not worth it.

doctor123- so should I retake these classes once I transfer to the 4 year. Will that change anything?

That won’t help, as AMCAS does not do grade replacement. Take upper-div science classes at the 4-year and prove you can handle the rigor.
