<p>What does it take to get into Fordham University (or even NYU) as a transfer student?</p>
<p>I am currently a freshman at Brooklyn College, however, I want to try my chances of getting into either Fordham or nyu. I tried asking the admissions offices, but as expected I got the ever-so robotic responses of "over 30 credits and GPA of over 3.0.".</p>
<p>Anyways, what does it take? I want to set goals as early on as I can because one usefull (and demotivational) piece of information I got from Fordham was that 250 out of approximately 1800 (the other guy said 2000) transfer applicants got accepted from last year's pool. So I wonder what is so required or recommended.</p>
<p>it should be relatively easy to transfer to Fordham. There’s a huge transfer out rate here (including me as I’m in the process of transferring schools for the spring). My friend down the hall applied this summer in July way after the deadline and got in. She went to college at Union, I believe. She called this summer to admissions to ask if there was still transfer space, and the folk at admission practically coerced her to apply.</p>

It is mainly the administration: they are unresponsive and fails to make decisions, taking into account opinions of faculty and students. I feel that the institution functions as a business first before the welfare of its students. For example, when I went to speak to my dean about the possibility of transferring out of Fordham, she did everything in her power to persuade me otherwise, going as far as pelting me with horror stories about how kids who transferred out begged to come back. I told her I appreciated her two cents, but was deeply offended that she failed to take into account my welfare.</p>
<p>Later, I sent her an email thanking her for writing the required dean letter for my transfer application. A school I was applying to required a two-sentence statement from my dean to confirm I was a student of need of a fee waiver, telling her my family would really appreciate her statement. The dean wrote me back, “I’m extremely busy at this time of the semester, and I need to reserve my time for students who actually plan on staying next semester.”</p>
<p>From where I’m standing, Fordham functions more like a business than a college should. Some of the professors i’ve had here have been critical in my development here, but I’ve also had some professors as the most incompetent people I have ever met. My sociology professor told us in class one day, he was hired via email without being interviewed/without ever meeting any administration representative. He has still, to date, meet with an administration representative.</p>
