Transferring after freshman year. Ideas?

Hello all. So I am in the middle of my freshman year at the Virginia Military Institute, I was originally on an Army ROTC scholarship but I want to focus more on a possible career in Investment Banking and I'm looking to drop my Army scholarship/commitment. Because of that, I'd have to leave VMI as well after this year.

I'm looking for a school that is relatively small, win a strong alumni network and preferable on the east coast/Midwest (I'm from Indiana). Of course the obvious choice to transfer to is IU-Bloomington, and I'm looking into it, but like I said I would prefer a smaller school. I got a 2.9 GPA this first semester under the pressures of being a freshman at an intense military school with very little free time.

What schools should I be looking at for IB/strong alumni, etc? And that would be doable with my low GPA?

Also, total costs under $30,000 would be preferable. Or schools that are generous with scholarships to get to around that number.
