Hi. I just want to say that your accomplishments in high school were not for naught. 38/800 as a class standing is a great feat and you should be proud of yourself. It says that you’re a good student who will most likely excel wherever you end up going. Don’t feel obligated to go to a “better” university just because you were an A student; you have NOTHING to prove to your high school classmates. Honestly, in two years, those kids are going to be irrelevant to your life. For some context, the valedictorian at my high school ended up at UC Davis, her safety, and she loves it. As a side note, there were kids who were not as smart as her who ended up at ivies. Nobody gave her crap about it because everyone was simply too busy with their own lives.

Think about what YOU want to do. If the circumstance now is that you absolutely have to go to CPP, then go. I don’t think you’re going to dread your time there. So long as you keep an open mind, and don’t go thinking that you’re better than everyone else there, you’re going to be alright. Make the most of it.

Look at the articulation agreements for CPP along with a local community college, then look at the UCR agreements with that same community college. You should be able to find out UCR equivalents at CPP.

I didn’t read the whole thread so this may of been covered. But keep in mind that Cal State cirriculum is a bit different than what is required at a UC.

Thanks for the reply. The reason I want ucr is for me, not to prove anything to anyone. Inside I feel I deserve better than CPP. And as long as I’m not at UCR I feel everything I did was for nothing. I don’t see that changing anytime soon or at all. Unfortunately I have to start at CPP in a major that does not provide what I need. As of now I’m hopping ucr has lower division transfer available like in past years. If that doesn’t work it seems like I will be at my local cc for my second year with a TAG to UCR.

@lindyk8 thanks for the reply. Yes the public policy seems really cool and suits what I need EXTREMELY well.

@calbro I don’t know how to tell it any other way
The circumstances are not allowing me start at mt sac or any other cc. I get it 100% that cc get first priority and all that transfer info. There is more to story than I’m willing to tell right now. I appreciate the advice and know that the cc route is the most straightforward an easiest way.

CPP one year in a major you do not want, trying to see what classes will articulate, applying, then if you don’t get in going to CC and reapplying?

I think if you want to go to UCR you might have a better chance than you think at getting in next year.
You don’t go the CC route, I think you can get in two years from CPP. I am more concerned about the outside issues that kept you from accepting this year, will keep you from accepting when the time comes. Good Luck!

Thanks for the reply @Yenmor and I hope so! I was worried about things that really dont mean anthing or were completely bogus. I have my priorities straight for the most part and have learned from what has happened.

That is good to hear! I know it sounds corny, but it will work out and you will be fine. Just do some leg work re-UCR to prepare yourself as best you can.
