<p>I was wondering how difficult it is to transfer after one year vs. after two years of college.</p>
<p>As a high school senior, I have heard bad news from most schools so far, and I am 99% positive I will be looking to transfer sometime in the next two years. </p>
<p>Let me give you some context:
I am a student at a very competitive private school. My GPA is a 3.63 UW (that would be the reason for most of my rejections) and my SAT score is a 2220 superscore (770 CR, 780 W, 670 M). I took 6 APs, and all my other classes were taught at the "honors level" (my school does not offer traditional "honors" courses, but the courses rigorous nonetheless). I always took the most rigorous courseload available to me. </p>
<p>I want to transfer from either UMich or Penn State to one of the following schools:</p>
<p>Penn
Duke
Columbia
Northwestern
Georgetown
Vanderbilt
Brown
Emory
Cornell</p>
<p>I realize that all of these schools have high retention rates, making the transfer process highly competitive. I also realize what that means in terms of what my GPA should be during my freshman year of college. In complete sincerity, I think I can pull a 3.9-4.0. </p>
<p>All that being said, what are my chances of transferring to one of those schools after one year? After two?</p>
<p>well your stats look really good if you pull ur college gpa to that 3.9-4.0 range
then you would make it into any of the top schools
my older friends did that too
and they’re really happy where they are</p>

<p>You have a good chance. Just make sure you do well in your classes and write great essays. Having done research and publishing things can help as well. Good luck!</p>
<p>Does anyone know about EC’s in the transfer process? I am curious because I can’t see how involved I could really be in clubs at a school I’ll only be attending for 1-2 years.</p>
<p>Well usu if u transfer after ur first year, colleges will look more at ur hs stats; unless you’ve done something substantial since highschool. If you transfer as a sophomore, colleges will focus more on your college stats. I’m not sure if this applies for ALL colleges…but the ones I’ve heard (Stanford). I’m not sure where your applying as it may be different there.</p>
<p>OMG! We are in the same boat! I’ll probably be going to UofMich next year! I plan to attempt to transfer after my 1st yr to Stanford or Columbia…I also plan on writing a book and self-publishing or getting a small publisher so I’m hoping it will boost my chances

<p>Also, if you are top of your class at Penn State or UMich (which I’m sure you will be :)) you’ll have a better chance at transferring! Sorry for the rejections btw…I was 2 scared 2 apply to a lot of the school I wanted to go to and now I’m regretting it.</p>
