I received an email saying I have to take college-level algebra in the fall(cuny school), however, I don’t understand why I need to take college-level algebra and then take pre-calc then calc when I have already taken pre-calc and AP calc in hs. they said I can take it this summer but my family has already planned a vacation this summer if I do end up taking college algebra during the school year and I decide to transfer to Cornell or a similar school after my first year how will my chances be affected.
What was your Math score on your CUNY entrance exam? Just a guess, but maybe your score on the exam was below par, an indication that College Algebra would be more appropriate for you. What was your AP Calculus score (if you have taken already taken the exam)?
IMHO, you should focus on doing well at the CUNY School you gain acceptance at before thinking of transferring out. It may not happen!
