CUNY college math ?

I’m currently attending a college in North Carolina and looking to transfer to a CUNY college called college of staten island. I have all the stuff I’m required to have to apply. However I went on the direct CUNY website and saw that they want to see a college level math. The major I was undergoing when I first applied to my current college told me I did not need one so I never took one besides 2 basic math classes. What are my chances of getting in CUNY without that college level math? Because my new major does require a math but can’t I just take the math when I transfer over? I would register for one right now at my current college but they told me I have to take a remedial course and by the time im finished it will be too late to enroll in a college level math. Any solutions to this dilemma? And please don’t tell me to enroll in a CUNY community college cause that’s not an option right now as much as I would like it to be.

My son will be attending College of Staten Island in the fall as a transfer. His new major also requires a lot of math courses. At his previous college, he was a PharmD major and they accepted his AP Calc class to fill their math requirement. He wasn’t required to take another. After he was accepted, CSI had him come in to take a math assessment exam so that they would know which class to place him in. If it turns out you need to take remedial math, then that’s where they’ll place you.

Did he take that calc class in highschool? Because if he took it in college that would count as a college level math. Which I what I have yet to take. Do you know if they will still accept me knowing I did not take a math course? These are general CUNY requirements.

He took AP Calc in high school. He did take Stats at his previous college, but apparently that isn’t considered a math class. Did you take those basic math courses in college? I honestly don’t think they’ll give you a hard time about it.

Yes I did.

You can email CSI’s admissions office if you want. They’re very good about getting back to you. Or you can just apply and see what happens. I still honestly don’t think they’ll hold it against you. For all we know, college level might mean any math class taken while in college. Good luck!
