Transferring back to LAC after transferring out?

This past year I transferred from a New England LAC very close to home to a larger university pretty far from home. There were a lot of reasons I decided to transfer from the LAC- I really wanted a bigger school environment in a bigger town, and I wanted to experience living in an area farther from home since I think I will want to live in New England after college. I also just didn't feel that the LAC was the best fit for me in general- I just wasn't very happy there. I had a great experience at my new university this year, and really found everything that I didn't have at the LAC. Overall it was a very enjoyable year. The only problem is I was disappointed by my classes and professors at my new school. I loved my professors and classes at my old school, and after this year I am realizing that I really miss that. Both my old LAC and my new university have very good academic reputations and so I expected my classroom experiences at both schools to be comparable, but this was not the case for me this year. I am happier at my new school, but I know that the reason I am at school is for academics.

I have the option to return to my old LAC next year and treat this year like a year abroad, and I am very torn about what to do. I'm not sure if having a more enjoyable college experience at my new school is worth forgoing the academic experiences that I miss having at my old school. Any thoughts/opinions on this dilemma would be greatly appreciated.
