Transferring back to my hometown

So I’ve recently been told that if I plan on transferring to a university back in my hometown, I won’t be qualified for in-state tuition anymore. Of course, this has me panicking as I was forced as a minor to attend the university I am in now…
I’m currently in a private university that has no difference in the amount for in-state/out-of-state tuition. I want to transfer to the university of central Florida, where my mother lives. Since I am considered her dependent, am I still qualified for in-state tuition despite being in another state for over a year?

I don’t believe that. Call the university and talk to them.

Also, my mom is a dependent of my dad as well, however he lives in NY, not FL… Our housing in Florida is under my dad’s name and as far as I’m concerned my mom and I were considered residents of Florida.
