Transferring Back to Original College?

Hi all,

I have a very interesting situation. I started college a large, public, SEC school in the south because I got a full ride scholarship there. I’m from the west, so this move to the south was a giant culture shock for me. I didn’t get the opportunity to join a fraternity, for all the fraternities filled their pledge classes so early in the summer there, so I was forced to be a male, freshman, GDI at a giant state university in the south. I was a fairly social person in high school, and it drove me crazy how outside of the social loop I was at this school. I made some really good friends, but I was so weirdly fixated on the fact that I wasn’t in the popular greek scene.

Moving on, I was positive I was transferring to a different school as soon as possible. I didn’t have any particular college lined up, but the first one that responded to me and gave me a scholarship I decided to transfer to. It was a small, private school in the midwest. After spending some time here, I miss my old school extremely. From the friends I made, the school spirit, and the resources available, I can’t get over how much I miss my old school. I was weirdly fixated on not being in a fraternity as a first semester freshman, but I really don’t care about any of that anymore. Has anyone ever transferred back to the school they transferred from, or know of someone who has done so? Does anyone have any advice? I obviously just keep thinking about this and I keep beating myself up for making the impulsive decision to leave my original school. If anyone has any input that’d be fantastic!

Lots of students transfer back. Don’t worry about that.

However, your big scholarship is probably long gone, and you would end up being a full-pay OOS student. Take that into consideration as well.
