I am currently enrolled at a small, liberal arts school in upstate NY. Academically, it's amazing. All my professors are always available, incredibly smart, and totally willing to provide one-on-one help. But I am unhappy. I'm from Colorado so I am used to the sun, even in the winter, and I haven't adjusted well to the constantly grey days in NY. Also, the college is located in a very remote part of the state; the closest city is an hour drive and I don't/won't have access to a car. On top of the greyness and isolation, the school is incredibly homogenous and I feel I won't find what I'm looking for in a college experience here. It's been really weighing on me, and I think I want to transfer back to CU Boulder. I'm attracted to its closeness to home, school spirit, and generally the "typical" college experience (big sororities/fraternities, living in a house off-campus, having friends visit, etc.). But I am worried that giving up the liberal arts academics is too great a price to pay. I am unsure about the whole idea, and am scared of making a mistake, and regretting my decision in 10 or so years. I know I'm unhappy here, but I also know that transferring is incredibly difficult and I can't decide if it's worth it. Help!
