Transferring Chances

Hey Y’all,

I’m currently a junior at a T20 university (with approx. 3.6 GPA) who is planning to apply to:

  1. Yale
  2. Princeton
  3. Stanford
  4. Duke
  5. Northwestern
  6. University of Virginia (UVA)-McIntire
  7. UChicago (maybe)
  8. Williams College (a maybe-not high chance that i would apply tho)

I know that my list gives off the sense that I’m trying to upgrade/prestige hunt, but that’s not the case. I’ve reached out to many T20 schools and these are basically the only T20s that allow current juniors to apply for transfer admissions. I understand that by transferring, I will lose 1 year of college credit, which is fine by me since I’m switching majors.

I will preface by saying that I understand that these schools are all reaches (some with 1% acceptance rate); however, the industry that I hope to go into is extremely prestige oriented (you literally can’t even get a job there if you didn’t go to some elite undergrad target school).

I won’t specify my reason for transferring; however, I am absolutely confident that my reason for transferring is very reasonable and justifiable.

If anyone can chance me on these schools listed above, that would be greatly appreciated! Can also chance back!!
ALSO, if anyone can recommend me other target schools (for finance/investment banking/consulting) that accepts current college juniors applying for transfer, that would be great (no public schools since i don’t want to pay out of state tuition)

Northwestern & Vanderbilt accept a healthy number of transfer applicants.

Virginia–McIntire looks interesting.

The Univ. of Chicago has a core curriculum that may set you back more than just one year.

Which is your current university ? (Identifying your current school should not reveal your identity.)

Also, current major ?

If I had to guess, I would guess that you are just outside of the top 20 national universities–maybe Emory or WFU.

I ask because there may be additional options based on your current school. In short, your approach may be wrong.

My understanding is that you want to get a job in investment banking.

P.S. I will PM you so that we can communicate confidentially if that is a concern to you.

I have not heard back from OP so I will offer some bare bones advice: You are approaching this in an entirely wrong manner.
