I'll be starting college as a freshman this fall, and I have a few questions. I took many AP classes during high and received 3s, 4s, and 5s. The college I will be attending only accepts 4s and 5s, so if I were to take classes at a community college during the summer (I can do this, right? I'm not really sure...), will I be able to send my AP scores to the college and have the credits for the 3s transfer to my four-year college? As well as the credits for the other classes? And what about CLEP?

Sorry if this is confusing. I don't really know how to explain... :/
But thank you in advance!

If I am understanding you right, your transcript only shows what you have done at that particular school. That means that while you are transferring in with your AP’s, they don’t show up on the CC’s transcript. And in turn, your AP classes just show up on your High School transcript. So unless you take a course to replace your 3’s you won’t be able to get credit for them (at the 4-year school). I’d imagine taking a class during the summer at a CC wouldn’t be an issue but I would contact your 4-year school and make sure.

Community Colleges don’t transfer your AP credit if you only take a summer class and even if you stayed at at a CC for a full year, the transcript would say they are AP credits. Therefore the university you are going to will ask you for the AP scores and they won’t accept the 3’s.

There is a reason why many universities do not give credit for 3 or below. An AP course is not the same as a college course, particularly in mathematics and science. I have seen students with 4’s and even 5’s come in and utterly fail at the next level because their foundation is not good enough. Many universities will not let you take AP credit in an area that is critical for your major.
