Transferring during freshman year, then again as a sophomore

I'm in such a weird, confusing situation right now, and I'd really appreciate any input. (Apologies in advance for this jumbled brick of text.)

Currently I'm a freshman at Drexel University. It wasn't anywhere near my top choice, and I never intended on staying here longer than I had to. Emerson College is my dream school, but I wasn't admitted as a freshman. Since then, it's been my intention to transfer there as soon as possible.

To be blunt, Drexel is making me miserable. I've been managing to get really good grades (all As at nearly halfway through the term), but the environment and the school itself just don't fit my needs. It's becoming harder and harder to motivate myself when I'm in an environment that just makes me so unhappy and uncomfortable.

I know that I probably wouldn't get into Emerson as a spring transfer (because of a lackluster HS record), but I'm pretty confident that I could get in for Fall 2014. But...I honestly can't see myself staying at Drexel until then. So, what if I apply as a spring transfer to Suffolk University (my second choice to transfer to anyway...but it's just not Emerson), kick ass there, and apply to Emerson for the fall? I know it sounds a little crazy, and maybe like a waste of time and effort, but I'm 100% confident that my personal happiness and ability to succeed will be positively affected by transferring.

My only concern is how this will look to the adcoms at Emerson. I wouldn't want to do anything that would hurt my chances of going to my dream school. I have solid reasons to justify my transferring mid-year that go beyond simply not liking Drexel. I just fear that they'll see me as a college hopper and not consider me for admission. Hopefully my dedication to putting forth a great transfer application would show.

So, to clarify, it would go like this:
Freshman - Drexel --> Suffolk
Sophomore - (hopefully!) Emerson

Also, here are my stats:
HS GPA: 3.5ish (my school used a 100-point scale)
SAT: 1890 (CR 680, W 650, M 560)
No official grades from Drexel just yet, but I've gotten As on almost every single test, assignment, and paper so far. Predicting a 3.7-3.8.

buuuuuuump

Do you guys think this would hurt my Emerson application? Another reason I’m considering this is because Drexel runs on quarter hours, which are a pain to transfer. By attending Suffolk, I’ll be able to maximize the number of credits that will transfer to Emerson. Is this a solid reason to transfer?

If you believe that you would be happier at Suffolk, and you would be willing to stay there if you were unable to transfer to Emerson, and you can afford Suffolk, then pick up the phone and find out if they still are accepting applications for the spring.

You might want to plan now to spend two semesters at Suffolk so that you build up a more solid track record and then apply to Emerson.
