I recently got into a college that is ranked within the 50-100 range on the US news range. My top 3 colleges are in top 50 schools ranked and I think my chances of getting in are very slim. If I go to the college that I have already been accepted to I will 100% try transfer to my top 3 colleges as I strongly feel it is not for me. As I will defiantly transfer out from that college I am considering going to a CC instead to save money but I am worried that transferring from a CC to a top 50 school is hard to do and I might be better off going to other college and transferring from there. The problem is though I am not sure going to a school that costs $50,000 is worth it if I am just going to leave. Would I be better off going to the college that I already got in? How much does going to a CC hurt your application when it comes to transferring?

It is very difficult to transfer from a cc to a top 50 school. For one thing, some of them accept very few to no transfers at all. The successful ones I have seen are usually in state for that college and have near perfect or perfect gpa’s and some really outstanding additions to the application like having a Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship, and being prominent in the leadership at the CC.

In you are in CA, CC to UC is a very reasonable route, however. CC students are also fairly successful at USC as they take a lot of instate transfers from CCCs. Check your 3 target school transfer rate and see if they publish transfer details like USC does.

If you list the colleges we can maybe get give a better chance. Your post was hard to follow with all of this “after this college, I’m already accepted at this college, so if I go to that college I want to one of these other colleges.” Haha, nonetheless, it’s hard to get into most places as a transfer, ecspecially OOS. I think that if you want to go to the college that you were already accepted to, you should. If you do end up going, you should figure it out from there. Good luck.
