I go to University of Toronto in Canada, but my family recently got a Green Card. Because I’m considered to be an “international student” here in Canada, the tuition fee is extremely expensive. So, my family is planning to move to US now that we have gotten our Green Card.
I’m thinking of applying to University of California. I finished my first year at UofT and I heard that UC only takes transfer applicants who has done 2 years of studies at community college or university. So, I’m thinking of attending California community college for my second year, then apply for transfer to UC after spending one year at a community college.
I figured I would have higher chance of getting into ANY US school if I enter directly from community college, rather than finishing another year at UofT and apply as an international student. After all, it seems like pretty much most US universities take in community college students as their top priorities.
My question is, would it seem like a bad idea that my resume later will have three schools during my undergrad? First it’s UofT, secondly a community college, and then lastly a US university. Or do you think US schools won’t prefer that I would be transferring for the second time?
