Transferring from HCC to USF after first semester

So this is my first semester at Hillsborough Community College and I applied to go to USF for spring 2012. I'm currently taking 12 credit hours at HCC, and I completed 21 hours of dual enrollment courses in high school, a total of 33 credits by the end of this semester. (And I'm pretty sure you have to have 30).

Will I get into USF as a lower level transfer for the spring? (I got in last year and they offered me an $8,000 scholarship, but turned that down, which was the stupidest thing I've ever done). I just cannot stand HCC and I want to go off to a real college.

Also, if I withdraw from one of my college courses now, will my acceptance by affected? I'd still have 30 credits.

You need to phone (or better yet go in person if you’re in Tampa) USF admissions office asap and ask them your questions so you can do your best planning for spring term. I don’t see you getting in for spring 2012. They will likely say they can’t make decision until they see your grades on transcript for fall 2011. I don’t think it would be smart to drop any classes now, especially when you are now only taking 12 credit hrs. They’d have to do all this during few weeks of winter break and by then all admission spots will likely have been filled already. But don’t rely on what I say here, get USF’s admissions officers to help you asap. You might have a much better chance getting in for 2012 summer or fall terms. Good luck!

Transfer applications are considered for the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters. Apply early!

Submission Deadlines*

Term of Entry: Spring
Application deadline: October 1
File Completion deadline: November 15

Go to the admissions website for more info… but it seems like you may be able to apply for Spring 2012, as long as you submit the app before October 1st. I would say to go ahead and apply… and you can always update your application to Summer 2012 if you need to.

You also should talk directly to Admissions to get more specifics.

I got accepted on Friday! It just took forever it seemed like. I sent in the application on september 1 and got in october 28. I was just getting annoyed because some of my friends in high school sent in their application later than me and got accepted a few weeks ago.
