Hello Everyone,
I wanted to get some advice regarding pre-med courses in Hunter College compared to Queens College. I’m currently a senior in Hunter college majoring in sociology but started pursuing pre-med last year. I started by taking Chem 1 as the first step towards my science requirements. I failed the course last year by a hair. I’m currently retaking Chem 1 again this semester and just received my first exam back. I failed again. I’m losing hope and have done everything from studying, going to office hours, and going to review classes. Hunter’s class size for Gen Chem courses is 700+ students. The course is taught from a series of videos posted on Sapling. With average exam grades for the class averaging in the 70-72% range every exam, I can’t imagine that I’m the only one feeling this way.
I’ve heard from friends that science classes in Queens College are drastically smaller and more intimate. My current overall GPA is 3.4. Gen chem was the first time I have ever failed a course, I’m otherwise an A-B grade student. Would you guys recommend that I finish my sociology degree at Hunter and start fresh at Queens College? or will this greatly affect my chances in entering medical school?
Thank You in advance!
